Hashing makes for great reading November 27, 2007 Filed under Notes.
While bored, I decided to read up on something I use very commonly but normally assume to be magic, hashing. Without going into much detail, hashing is a really cool way of pissing of hackers by cloaking your passwords. If you're bored and want to fall asleep, definitely check out the Wikipedia page about cryptographic hash functions!
Pandora, a new addiction November 24, 2007 Filed under Notes with the tags music, radio.
I recently became an major fan of and addicted to Pandora Radio. Based upon the Music Genome Project, Pandora uses a large database of songs to find songs and artists similar to a song (Or multiple songs or artists.) that you like. The great thing is that it's completely free, and with AdBlock Plus the unsightly ads on their site are no more. Though their UI could use some work in my opinion, Pandora Radio will remain on my bookmarks for years to come.
Bob’s ATM November 21, 2007 Filed under Uncategorized.
One of my cousin Seth's friends Bob Snead recently created an ATM for an art exhibit. Although this may sounds boring and mundane, his ATM turned out to have some major personality problems. (Drinking, bad stand-up comedy, and a whole slew of other maladies.) Check them out at Bob's account on Vimeo!
The Pursuit of Happyness November 21, 2007 Filed under Reviews with the tags movies.
I just got a chance to see this movie a few nights ago (Digital video recorders are amazing.) and found it to be one of the most touching movies I've ever seen. (Don't worry Radio, you still hold first place as the saddest movie ever.) Without going into the details, I'll say that Will Smith and the rest of the actors did an excellent job, turning an already amazing story into one of the greatest movies I've ever watched. (It's up there with 300, Gladiator, Ocean's 11, The Hunt for the Red October, and a few others.) If you haven't already seen it (Less than 6% chance of that.) then you definitely should.
Blazing Saddles November 19, 2007 Filed under Reviews with the tags humor, movies.
I recently saw this movie and found it to be a riot. Produced in 1974 and starring Gene Wilder, Mel Brooks, and Cleavon Little "Blazing Saddles" is a classic Western parody. Featuring over 4 LPM (Laughs-per-minute) and well-executed twists on general stereotypes the movie ranks near the top of the list in the humor category. If you have a chance I suggest renting it, it's well worth the money.
