Professional Themes? October 25, 2007 Filed under Uncategorized with the tags themes, wordpress.
After enjoying doing a site for my first client so much, and since I absolutely love making WordPress themes (Although there are only two that I actually released, the one for my site and a friend's site's theme.) I'm debating where to start doing professional WordPress theme design like Brian Gardner and other theme celebrities do. Right now I'm still in the thinking phase, deciding whether or not I want start doing it. Also, don't expect any offers for theme design until I'm finished with 5 by 5 on the 5.

This is an idea that I thought of; I will release 5 free WordPress themes, with 5 stylesheets that can be used with all of the themes to change their color. So you could quickly change a stylesheet and your theme would turn a different color. All of the themes and stylesheets would be released gradually on days ending with a five (5, 15, or 25).
Element has no properties!? October 9, 2007 Filed under Schwa? with the tags interfaces, javascript, themes.
Firebug recently gave me this wonderful error, I found it quite...flattering. After about a half-hour screaming at the screen I figured out that I was trying to make a call to a JavaScript function included in the Prototype library, the problem was that the library hadn't been loaded yet, so my function call was looking for a function that did not exist. Or so I think. Anyway, the problem was solved by sacrificing a small animal to the JavaScript gods and putting the code in a function that was only executed once the entire document was loaded. I'm not sure if this workaround fully fixed it or I just got lucky with something, but I'm definitely going to look for some better ways to solve it in the near future.
WWDD with a Revolution News Theme? October 8, 2007 Filed under Magazines with the tags revzine, themes.
The Opportunity
Brian Gardner recently decided to give away a few copies of his excellent Revolution News Theme, a sub-theme of his quickly growing Revolution Theme. Although few know it, I'm acting as a managing editor of the most unknown online magazine on the planet, Revision Magazine. While still in the formative stages (We don't even have a single issue out yet!), I personally feel that there's a lot of potential to do something really useful and really cool with it. Kind of like a more formal Smashing Magazine, so to say.The Question
So here's my request:Dear Brian, Although you've likely already read the first part of the post, I'll give you a little summary of what it says just to annoy you. Although small, Revision Magazine has some potential, and having a high-quality theme such as Revolution News on our front-end would really give us the opportunity to form a great online magazine.
Thanks, Dirk Gadsden
